Sree Krishna Swamy Temple is a prominent Hindu Temple in Ambalappuzha of Kerala State. It is also one of the most famous and oldest temples in Kerala. The unique history and spiritual legends are reflected form the Temple. This temple is dedicated to Krishna. Most visitors are the devotees of  Krishna. It represents the prayer tradition of the  Southern India. A large number of people came here and performed the prayer in front of Lord Krishna.

Ambalapuzha Sree Krishna Temple Darshan

As we have mentioned above Ambalapuzha Sree Krishna Temple is situated at the Alappuzha district of Kerala. This temple was built during the 15th – 17th CE by Pooradam Thirunal Devanarayanan Thampuran, ruler of the erstwhile Chembakassery kingdom. The Ambalappuzha Sree Krishna Temple is one of the seven great Vaishnava temples in Kerala. This holy shrine’s significance is that Lord Vishnu the presiding deity appears here in the guise of Parthasarathy, the charioteer of Arjuna from the epic Mahabharata.

This temple constriction is done in the Kerala style of architecture and is noted for its Chuttambalam (building constructed around the sanctum sanctorum) which is adorned with beautiful wall paintings. The main offering at this temple is delicious sweet milk porridge, popularly known as Ambalappuzha Palpayasam. Many devotees come here across India.

  1. Palpayasam => It is the main and famous offering at the Ambalapuzha Sree Krishna Temple. The Tempel is famous for its porridge. It is known as the payasam. Devotees get paal payasam every day here. The porridge is popular by the name of Amabalapuzha Pal Payasam. Devotees can also book the Prasada. They can also pay for the Prasada through money order. It is  is delicious sweet milk porridge, popularly known as Ambalappuzha Palpayasam.
  2. The Pallipana Ritual => It is one of the most powerful and well-known rituals performed at the Ambalapuzha Sree Krishna Temple. The Velans perform this ritual. Pallipana ritual takes place every twelve years.
  3. Kalabharam => It is another ritual also specially performed at the Temple. People, especially booked this ritual on special occasions by making an appointment with the priest. This 30000 ritual is observed as per the Malayalam calendar. Kalabharam takes place in Edava Masam. This month generally falls between May and June.
