One of the famous temples of Tirupati “Govindaraja Swamy Temple” is a prominent shrine situated in the Tirupati District. The temple is dedicated to the lord Govindraja. Govindaraja Swamy Temple Tirupati
As we all know, Govindaraja Swamy Temple is located in the heart of Tirupati city in Andhra Pradesh. The famous Shri Vaishnav saint Ramanujacharya consecrated this temple in 1130 AD. Before Lord Sri Govindaraja Swamy, Sri Parthasarathy Swamy was the presiding deity of this temple. It means the temple was built in the 12th century. The Govindaraja Swamy Temple is one of the earliest structures in Tirupati. It is also one of the biggest temple complexes in Tirupati district. The Tirupati (downhill) city is built around this temple. This temple is currently administered by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
Sree Govindaraja Swamy Temple provides various offerings and rituals to perform at the Temple. So, all the devotees can fulfill their wishes by worshipping lord Govindraja. There is a lot of legend, one of the most believed stories is that during the invasion of Govindaraja Perumal Temple in Chidambaram, the Utsava murti (processional deity) was brought to Tirupati for safekeeping. The Utsava murti was taken back after the invasions. So, this temple has become a famous attraction for the devotees.
