Shri Chaturshringi Devi Temple: History And Overview

As we all know by this time, the Chaturshringi Temple is one of the most ancient and largest temples of India and is situated at the Senapati Bapat Road in Pune. the temple attracts a crowd of millions of people every year due to its location in the hilly region and the widespread greenery surrounding it.

There is a legend related to the origin of this temple. 250 years back in the era of pesewas, there was a rich money lender, Durlabhseth. Durlabhseth was a highly religious person and devotee of Devi Saptshringi. He used to visit her temple every year which was 300 km away from Nasik. But due to his old age after a few years, he stopped visiting the temple and kept feeling sorrow due to his inability to visit his goddess.

One day the goddess came into his dreams and told him a location where he would find her idol. He followed her instructions and miraculously he found it. Hence he built a temple there which is today known as Chaturshringi temple.
