Mantralayam Temple Timings 2026 — Room Booking, Sevas & Complete Raghavendra Swamy Guide | srsmatha.org

Sri Raghavendra Swamy entered Sajeeva Samadhi at Mantralayam in 1671. That is 355 years ago. Devotees who visit today — millions every year — do not come to a memorial or a historical site. They come because they believe the saint is still alive inside the Brindavana, in eternal meditation, continuously blessing every person who stands before him. Sajeeva Samadhi is not death with a monument — it is a living saint in permanent divine communion, whose consciousness continues to respond to prayers. This is why Mantralayam is not like other pilgrimage destinations. The energy here is personal and immediate — not historical.

Sajeeva Samadhi — What It Means

This is the central belief that makes Mantralayam unlike any temple in India.

Samadhi = the final meditative state where the individual consciousness merges with the divine.

Sajeeva Samadhi (also called Jeeva Samadhi) = entering samadhi while the physical body is still alive — the saint’s body is interred, but the saint is believed to remain alive within in a state of eternal meditation.

Sri Raghavendra Swamy entered this state voluntarily at Mantralayam in 1671. His physical body was interred in the Brindavana — the stone structure that devotees gather before. Devotees believe that the saint’s consciousness remains active and responsive — that prayers offered at the Brindavana are heard and answered directly by the living saint.

This is why Mantralayam is called the place where “Rayaru” (the affectionate name for Sri Raghavendra Swamy) still lives.
