Morning
Step 1 — Wake up before sunrise, take a bath and wear clean clothes. Step 2 — Take a Sankalp (vow) — “I will fast from sunrise to moonrise for Lord Ganesha.”
Evening Puja
Step 3 — Set up a Ganesha idol or picture on a clean altar. Step 4 — Offer Durva grass, Modak, Laddoo and fresh flowers. Step 5 — Chant the mantra — “Om Gan Ganapataye Namah” Step 6 — Read or listen to the Sankashti Vrat Katha.
At Moonrise
Step 7 — Step outside and sight the moon (Chandra Darshan). Step 8 — Offer Arghya to the moon — water, milk and sandalwood paste. Step 9 — Chant “Om Som Somaya Namah” while offering Arghya. Step 10 — Break the fast with fruits or light sattvic food.
